Art on your wrist. Wrist cuffs are a marvellous way of recycling your ‘waste pieces’ of textiles and paper. The juxtaposition of textures, fabrics, words and images will ensure a beautiful piece of art to wear. As usual, you will try your hand at a range of techniques and we will be using all sorts of bits and bobs of fabrics, papers, lace, ribbon, beads, buttons etc to create these lovely cuffs. (Please bring along photocopies of small black & white photographic images/ text to transfer onto your piece of work. Please photocopy text as a mirror image or else it will transfer onto your fabric back to front!)

The club will meet once a month on the above dates. Angela will be teaching you various techniques in metalwork such as hot and cold joining, 3D forming and surface pattern techniques such as rolling, stamping and decorative hammering. You will be guided in designing items of jewellery which will then be created in copper or sterling silver and gain knowledge on where to buy tools and materials. Copper will be included in the cost of the workshop whilst silver will be ordered as needed and charged at a price per gram.

The textile adventure club will meet once a month on the above dates. Come and create beautiful vintage inspired objet d’art with sumptuous laces, sari’s and felts. A unique chance to create, a beautiful articulated shadow puppet inspired by the Indonesian tradition. You’ll learn traditional techniques to create your own shadow puppets, using black card, dowelling and stencilling equipment. Make a wall clock to your own design from slate and a variety of other interesting materials. Available will be: polished pebbles, agate, shell, metal and wood, glass, rope and fossils. An additional cost of £6 applies for the clock mechanism.

Create a dragonfly brooch with wire and beads in the morning then in the afternoon we’ll make 3-dimensional butterflies on stems that can be added to a flower arrangement or simply used to decorate. Both pieces will provide an opportunity to learn about constructing three-dimensionally in wire and using jigs to create specific shape.

Time flies with a good book! Come and create a Star Book, a beautiful and rewarding project. Your book will open out into a very impressive 3-dimensional ‘pop up’ style star. You’ll create cut out “secret” windows within and decorate with paints, stamping, distressing and cutting. You will also be using lots of ribbon, fabric bits, buttons, braids and other adornments to create a star shaped book that is bound to impress your friends!
Wini Jones-Lewis
Create a lino print of the park’s birds. You’ll spend the morning sketching peacocks, turkeys, pheasants and other birds in the park’s small animal sanctuary on site (or a still-life in the studio if it rains!) In the afternoon you’ll use one of your sketches as a starting point to create your lino cut, you’ll learn how to carve your image into the lino before painting it and printing onto paper.
